Let's Talk
releases and plans
So let's talk.
Today we want to share updates with you on two very important things.
the library time
We are currently working on libstp2 1.2.0 to support new functionality needed by the upcoming release of our setup-tool, more on that specifically later, which brings improvements to the API.
We don't break the API with this, but will add some new functionality to it:
- We make system upgrades through dnf (e.g. Fedora 42 to Fedora 43) more aggressive to ensure more successful upgrades
- We add support for adding repos in packageOperation for Fedora, EL, openSUSE/SUSE and flatpak
So the 1.2.0 patch-set won't be big, but nice.
the tooling time
We are currently working on Setup Tool 2025.10 and are getting things done.
We are slower than we hoped we would be, but we still managed to achieve something in the last two weeks.
So what have we achieved?
Well here is the current list:
- added Fedora 43 support
- removed Fedora 41 support
- added support for adding repos (url must be for .repo file)
- added GPU detection for Broadcom GPU devices
And yes, we know that removing Fedora 41 support before it goes EOL is not that nice, but we decided to do so, to be able to focus on improvements for the newer platforms and to avoid needing to remove fc41 support later on, as that would probably be the first patch we would have to do anyways.
Any feature suggestions are appreciated:
